True Life: I forgot how to use a fork
Well, turns out this is the end. It’s been awhile, and you missed out on a handful of events. EAP Thanksgiving dinner rented out a high-society Italian restaurant. It was supposed to be a traditional holiday dinner, but it was a little off… actually a lot off. Who puts orange rinds in pumpkin pie? But it went all unnoticed because of the endless Italian wines. Not a second was...

Let's Get Riele
I exchanged my baht for some American dollars to get intimate with Cambodia and Southern Vietnam. I didn’t have much time to admire how funny looking dollars seem to me now because I burned through that stuff like it was my job. I learned that Cambodia is festering with Toyotas and dilapitated roads ( I never knew Toyota Camries could go off-roading), krammas/scarves are hella fashionable,...

We’re name droppers. Shamelessly so. But dropping that Thammasat student ID card when we’re getting haggled is awesome. Maybe our egos don’t fit in the room after that, but the prices get halved. Don’t get me wrong, they’re by no means local Thai prices, there’s just not that bitterness of knowing you’re getting screwed to the max. A crew of us took a...

remember me?
I believe I haven’t updated anyone simply because too much has happened. I’m not even in India anymore for that matter. INDIA: Made it to Southern India. The hills of Ooty are beautiful and the tea fields are endless. Raji’s uncles(pl. for there were many) housed us and fed us awesome food (I miss it already). The entire family was more than hospitable, and it was well...

HAPPY 4th of JULY!!
How depressing that I’m abroad on the 4th of July? Which Will Smith movie did I miss out on?? But don’t fret, I’ll celebrate the holiday with a bottle or two of Indian beer — appropriately festive I feel. Meanwhile, here in India, while the entire country is ignorant of our Day to Blow Shit Up (and something to do with schmindependence), I’ve ridden a auto...

Do you think this is how the monkeys feel?
Made it to India, but I should share some of the keeeen stuff that happened in our 2-day lay over in Hong Kong. Memories: The cleaning lady that came 3 hours after we checked into our hostel walked in on Anna and Lauren naked. Funny how she couldn’t understand that we wanted 3 minutes to get dressed. she was obviously really bad at charades. Lauren had to change in the hallway. There...
Oo, Hong Kong is hot
It really came alive that we know nothing about China. Really, we know nothing. We had our first really awkward experience. It was nicely illustrated when we had our first meal. Eating. It was awkward, awesome, & awful. We got stares and glares. How exactly do you eat noodle soup with chop sticks, we didn’t know. The looks told us that we guessed wrong. When it dawned on us that...

Death by Soroche
so turns out my guts turn inside out at 4,550m. i made it 5 days hiking with soroche, continuously climbing to about 5,000m. i do not recommend it, its not fun. but from what i do remember, it was awesome. i wasn’t in the Andes; i was on the Andes. the sights were amazing. but its not so healthy to continue ascending when you’ve got altitude sickness, risks like your brain or...
Así es la vida
Have you ever arrived in a city and then thought as you’re driving through ¨I really hope this is not it¨? Well that is precisely what happened when we arrived in Uyuni, Bolivia. The only mentionable thing about Uyuni is… well maybe I could mention all the houses made of salt and sand? We booked the first bus out. Fast. Despite the the lack of.. well anything in Uyuni, I still...
So it's been a while
The beginning of my journey really started in Argentina in Iguazu Falls. Also, I learned the lesson to not forget your rain jacket, I was sopping wet in the end, and it took far too many days for my jeans to dry. There’s not much else in Iguazu so we all picked up and took a 15-hour bus ride to Resistencia where we camped in the Choco Forest. It was pretty sweet to get off the Gringo Trail....
